Hello and welcome to my website! My name is Richard Gray and I am a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who is Board Certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. I specialize in treating mental health disorders across the lifespan.
Until April 2024, I worked as a Registered Nurse (RN) at the West Virginia Poison Center (WVPC). In this role, I triaged and managed poisonings across the lifespan. The WVPC has contracts with all of the hospitals in West Virginia and assists healthcare providers with treatment recommendations in poisoned patients.
In 2021, I was certified by America’s Poison Centers as a Toxicology Specialist. In order to obtain this certification, one must manage at least 2,000 human exposures and pass a 125 question board certification exam. I proudly scored a 116 out of 125, which was the third highest score in the country for first time exam takers.
During my career at the WVPC, I managed almost 10,000 cases and established myself as a shift supervisor. I also trained new employees and provided education to fourth year pharmacy students. I also have a background in information technology and oversaw our organization’s technology, which included managing the organization’s on-site servers.
My work in medical toxicology drove my passion for treating mental health disorders, which is why in 2022 I enrolled in Ohio University’s Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program.
Prior to working in medical toxicology, I worked for nearly two years as a RN on a medical intensive care unit. In this role, I assisted in the management of critically ill patients and practiced specialized skills such as ventilator management, continuous renal replacement therapy, and advanced cardiovascular life support. I began my career in intensive care as a student nurse in 2017 and worked my way up to charge nurse before my departure.
Before a career in healthcare, I owned and operated an online website development company that proudly managed one of the top professional wrestling websites in the world located at WrestlingNewsWorld.com. Serving millions of wrestling fans per month, Wrestling News World was named by Bleacher Report as one of the “big four” of where to find credible professional wrestling news. The biggest names in the industry, such as Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson were avid readers. The property was monetized through advertisements and a paid subscription service that provided readers with exclusive behind-the-scenes information. In 2017, I sold the business to pursue a career in nursing.
